About

The smart RAM-1 device is intended for remote monitoring and advanced analysis of power grids. Power grids become Smart with the use of the RAM-1 device, which improves the operating process and the reliability and stability of the electricity transmission and distribution networks. If attached to a gapless surge arrester with a continuous operating voltage above 1 kV the RAM-1 device can measure the resistive component of the leakage current. This innovative method of extracting the resistive component of the leakage current conforms to the standard IEC 60099-5. The measurements can be tracked either via an online or mobile application. One RAM-1 device installed on a surge arrester is sufficient for monitoring a group of three surge arresters installed on one post.

The smart IoT device RAM-1 offers:

RAM-1 tracks, analyses and immediately reports the following parameters:
     • Excessive environment temperature (fire indication);
     • Inclination/tilt or collapse of the pole/pylon/tower;
     • Power outage (the presence of voltage);
     • Lightning counter and detection of other surge manipulations in network;
     • Destruction of arrester;
     • Operation of disconnecting device;
     • Location of event or fault (provides navigation to the location).

RAM-1 Versions:
     • RAM-1 MV A2(A4)* - Voltage up to 110 kV and HV towers;
     • RAM-1 HV A2(A4) - Voltage above 110 kV.

We continuously update the firmware of the RAM-1 device as well as upload the results of the machine learning process. The cost of updates and data transfer are included in the maintenance contract.

INSTALLATION GUIDE
It can be found on the back side of the packaging (Installation guide.pdf). The RAM-1 device must be installed on the grounding side of the surge arrester. There must not be a direct connection between the grounding side of the surge arrester and the RAM-1 device without and intermediate grounding. The metal plate of the RAM-1 device must be turned towards the grounding point. If the device is installed incorrectly it will not work properly. The installation guide for the installation on poles/towers are not necessary. The device must be installed in the top third of the pole/tower.


SPECIAL FEATURES
     • Test installation of three pcs. for six months with the acceptance of the general terms,
     • Translation of text in program,
     • Installation in enclosers,
     • Installation on cable terminals with surge arrester.

1. Client can receive up to three RAM-1 devices free of charge which have to be installed in at least 30 days after receiving goods. Included in the free package is also the RAM-1 program package allowing the user to monitor the devices. The free package is available after acceptance of the general terms.

2. All data in the program is in Slovenian or English. At the request of the client it can be translated in to different languages.

3. The RAM-1 device can be installed in transformer station. Prior to installation the strength of the 4G and 5G networks must be tested. In case there is no network a Gateway must be installed to transfer the data from the device to the network, which depends on the terrain and network strength. All solutions are custom.

4. The same problem as installations in enclosers might occur when installing the RAM-1 device on cable terminals with surge arrester. If the network strength is sufficient no additional modification is needed. In case of insufficient network strength see precious paragraph.
